Although over 80 per cent of cuisines in Indian restaurants would have originated from this region, the staple Bangladeshi dish would consist mostly of fish, as seas and rivers are in abundance. Cuisines are wonderfully spiced, with a unique and distinct fragrance. Sweets from Bangladesh are renowned throughout the sub-continent, probably the most famous of which is the Gulab Jam, yoghurts and fruits, even in cooking, are also much loved.
